Co-songwriter Paul Vance was inspired to write this song after seeing his 2-year old daughter Paula play at the beach in her bathing suit. Later featured in the 1962 comedy film One, Two, Three, starring Jimmy Cagney & Arlene Francis, with the Russians using the song to torture a suspected spy.
