Pi Day

March
14 is officially designated as Pi day in the United States. I
am not sure if it is anywhere else in the world, but I bet it is.
It
one of my favorite holidays. It fits into my sense of order
and love of numbers. OK OK it's a geek thing. I
always knew the first several digits of pi were 3.14159 but
since most folks didn't, I could rattle off a whole slew of random
numbers and no one would know if I was right or wrong. I
doubt it really impressed anyone though. But I learned them
just in case.
3.1415962535.....
It
was actually easier to confound people by reciting my phone number and
pausing after the fourth number instead of the 3rd.
Instead
of saying 555-5212, I'd say 5555-212. Or doing my SSN the
same way. Instead of 123-45-6789, I'd do
1234-56789. I'm such a pitb.
But
I digress. There are a lot of ways to celebrate Pi
day, besides eating pie of course. Someone even made up a
song using the number pi for the right hand and random chords for the
left. So here are some cool links for Pi Day.
Update This is a great site. You will hear the numbers of pi in a musical rendition that will stick in your head
forever. Heck you might
even learn the first 10-20 numbers 3.14159265

- Math with Mr Herte even more links here

There are lots more ( there were some really lame jokes that I didn't even like), but you can do a search if you want. True geeks with spare cash can even find cool Pi day shirts. Maybe I'll stick some on my christmas list.
